Building Schools for Africa works in close association with AidCamps International, a small UK-based charity which organises group and individual placements in developing countries for volunteers. Please visit their website www.aidcamps.org if you would like to work as a volunteer in Cameroon with our partner NGO SHUMAS
Schools which were funded and built by AidCamps International volunteers
Each year AidCamps International runs a school-building project in conjunction with SHUMAS and takes up to fifteen paying volunteers to work on the project. It is because three of the BSFA trustees took part in one of these projects (in 2006) that Building Schools for Africa came into existence. We work closely with AidCamps International and can thoroughly recommend their projects.
The most recent public AidCamps International project was in November 2014 in the village of Mbve, NW Region.
AidCamps International’s first ever Corporate project took place in January 2012 in Mbeunkong quarter of the village of Bamunka. The volunteers all came from the Dulux Paint division of AkzoNobel and, as you can see from the clip below, everyone had a terrific time.
A second group of volunteers from AkzoNobel travelled out to the village of Buh in January 2014 for another brilliant project. Below are just a few of the comments from their feedback forms for the company.
“It has shown me how to manage in situations that are out of my comfort zone”
“It has given me a more in depth knowledge about people, people skills and working as a team.”
“I am proud of myself for doing this and I’m very proud of the team for making this project a reality.”
