Volunteering with AidCamps International
Email this to a friend!AidCamps International has been working with SHUMAS, building rural primary schools, since 2003. Each November, 15 volunteers and a group leader travel to Bamenda in NW Province, to meet and work with the team at SHUMAS.
They spend three weeks working on the school building which their donations have funded. The school building is constructed to ‘four walls and a roof’ standard – and the volunteers help to plaster and paint it, fit the doors and windows and construct a toilet block. The experience is enhanced by the fact that the volunteers live together in the village where the school is being constructed: they become part of the community.
Groups of AidCamps International volunteers, in partnership with SHUMAS, have now funded and built 5 rural primary schools in Bangwe, Mbokui, Mogni, Bamali and Tsenka. The building of such good quality, long lasting schools in the poor rural villages improves the lives of literally thousands of children.
AidCamps International also offers opportunities for individual volunteer placements.
